Caulfield Cup results: where to find the 2026 result and the honour roll

The official 2026 Caulfield Cup result will be published by Racing.com and the Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) after the race at 5:15pm AEDT on Saturday 17 October 2026. Until stewards confirm it, treat any result you see as unofficial. Last year's winner was Half Yours, ridden by Jamie Melham (Racing.com).

Melbourne's art and culture calendar has its set pieces, and the spring racing carnival is one of them. The Caulfield Cup has been part of the city's social history since 1879, from the fashions on the lawn to press photographs like the one above. This page keeps to the record: where the 2026 result will appear and who has won before.

Where do I find the 2026 Caulfield Cup result?

Check these official sources:

1. Racing.com, Racing Victoria's racing media site. It broadcasts the meeting and publishes results and replays (Racing.com Caulfield Cup Day).
2. The Melbourne Racing Club, which runs the race (MRC).
3. Racing Victoria, the state's racing authority.

Results only become official once stewards have dealt with any protests or inquiries. Social posts and screenshots can be wrong, especially in a close finish.

If you want to follow the day as it unfolds, the Caulfield Cup honour roll and race guide on Race.com.au sets out the race details and recent winners. Race.com.au is an independent site, so check the official result with Racing.com or the MRC.

Which horses have won the Caulfield Cup twice?

Seven horses have won two Caulfield Cups: Paris (1892, 1894), Hymettus (1898, 1901), Poseidon (1906, 1907), Uncle Sam (1912, 1914), Whittier (1922, 1925), Rising Fast (1954, 1955) and Ming Dynasty (1977, 1980) (honour roll).

Who has won the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup in the same year?

Thirteen horses have completed the double: Poseidon (1906), The Trump (1937), Rivette (1939), Rising Fast (1954), Even Stevens (1962), Galilee (1966), Gurner's Lane (1982), Let's Elope (1991), Doriemus (1995), Might And Power (1997), Ethereal (2001), Without A Fight (2023) and Half Yours (2025). In 2026 the Melbourne Cup is on Tuesday 3 November, 17 days after Caulfield.

How is the Caulfield Cup run?

It is a Group 1 handicap over 2400 metres for horses aged three and older. Each horse is given a weight to carry to even out the field, which is capped at 18 starters. Caulfield is raced anti-clockwise. For 2026 the MRC raised prize money to $6 million, with $3.3 million to the winner and money for every starter (Racing.com).

Why the history matters

The 2026 race is the 150th running. The count is runnings, not years. During World War II the Cup moved to Flemington, and in 1943 it was run in divisions. A long record like this is why the honour roll matters: it lets you check a claim against the facts. When you see a "past winners" list anywhere, including this one, compare it with the club's record.

How is the result made official?

After the race, the judge confirms the finishing order and the stewards check for interference. If a jockey or trainer lodges a protest, the stewards hear it before they confirm the result. Only then do the official placings, margins and dividends appear on Racing.com and the MRC site. In a tight finish this can take several minutes, so a result shared in the first minute may not be the final one.
